Closing on our Condo: Tomorrow!

I haven’t wanted to jinx it but the time has finally come: we close on our condo, TOMORROW!
Our-Condo

I can’t believe we’re finally homeowners! This has been a long-time coming! I’m really happy with our purchase… we debated a big house in the burbs or a condo in the city, and I couldn’t be happier with our decision. I am really excited to be able to walk to restaurants, the grocery store, and the bus stop (my commute is going to be 15 minutes)!

We close tomorrow but we don’t actually move in until November because the sellers are renting it back from us. In the meantime, we’re doing a lot of planning. When we take possession of the condo we’re going to paint, add crown molding, and install a washer and dryer. Of course we plan to decorate, too! I can’t wait!

I love the natural light in the kitchen and dining room, which is great for food photography.

I also can’t wait to setup a new home office in the second bedroom. You can see my old office spaces here and here.

Did you paint as soon as you moved into your house?

Picking colors is hard!! Right now we like these colors, but it feels like such a commitment! Thankfully I got inspired after our walk-through and got to work on some inspiration boards! (Please ignore my misspelling of the word bedroom, ha!)

We just bought our home and the weekend we moved in we painted… I wouldn’t advise that haha. We painted our bedrooms dark grey/light grey and the living room tan/darker tan. Congratulations on your home! Can’t wait to see more!

Oh goodness, really? Haha! That’s our plan! We like the grey and dark tan color scheme too! Great minds think alike, I guess. (Belated) Congrats to you!

    Congratulations on closing!!!
We moved in a couple months after closing in April (renovations were going on, like putting in a new roof) and so far the only thing painted is the exterior. The plan is to tackle one room at a time and renovate in stages, but now we’re just settling in and getting used to the space before we start making changes. We’ve got time!

Thank you!! I love what you said here: “we’ve got time!” I had to take that message to Aaron because I think we’ve both been wanting to do it all right away and that’s just silly! There’s so much time!!!

Congratulations!!! Painting is our biggest feat because we both don’t really like it and we don’t want to pay for someone else to do it. So we have only done our master bedroom and our closet so far and we’ve already been in our house for 6 months! Baby steps….At least Jason’s building furniture. We are gray paint people too although I’m going to go with a slate blue for our dining room and maybe the half bath. Gray is very trendy right now, but it’s a great neutral.

Hey!! Thanks!! We’re excited!! I really love gray, too!! LOVE it. I painted our last apartment this pretty gray blue. We’re planning to do the bedrooms shades of gray but for some reason I’m really leaning towards this brown for the living room. A bit bold, but fingers crossed!! (And ps, that’s awesome Jason builds furniture! We’re hoping to build a mantel around the fire place, but um, yeah, that’s all. Haha! We’ll be buying all our furniture :-/ Think of all the money you’re saving!!)

Congrats!! Looking forward to seeing how you decorate. Great paint choices. I tell anyone now to go with neutral colors because it is SOO much easier to redecorate around a neutral color than an “out there” color. We went with dark, bold choices and 5 years later, I’m tired of them but hate painting lol. Live and learn!
