Hey guys! It’s Monday, President’s Day, and I’m off work, but I’m not off from blogging. I consider this little website a full-time job. It’s a lot of work to plan and get blog posts ready, and the work really never ends! I’ve been struggling a bit lately to nail down an editorial calendar and stick to daily themes like “Motivated Mondays,” so I’m going to try something new this week and begin on a more personal note. I think sharing about my life and what I’ve got planned for the week for the blog is better than jumping right into, “hey, get motivated!” I’ve always wanted this blog to be about other women, but I have to feel connected to my audience too! I can’t be a ghost on my own blog and I figure you readers want to know who the heck is behind this whole thing! So, here I am 🙂
Valentine’s Day last week was lovely. It was our second Valentine’s Day being married and I requested an evening at home since I get off work late. My hunny tried to make it nice with all sorts of goodies- my favorite wine and red roses. He even got me a sweet card! He NEVER gets me a card! I made him a “You Float My Boat” basket, which he loved! I got the idea from Pinterest (of course!).
This weekend was also girl’s night! I hosted at my place and had so much fun making tassels (another Pinterest idea!) and decorating! I’ll be sharing more photos from the party later!
Ghadah and Ghadeer were a huge help. Ghadeer made those adorable ball-shaped party favors you see above, and she also made a delicious blackberry mojito punchbowl (which I’ll be sharing later on too). Like me, Ghadeer is all about using her glue gun and getting crafty! I love these girls!
Back on the blogging front, this week I’ll be sharing a four-part series on how I got Fit for a Bride up and running. I switched from Blogger to WordPress.com, and became self-hosted through Bluehost. I had some help with the logo and web design, but as many of you know, getting started was no easy feat!I hope that my experience can be of some help those of you, whether you’re starting a blog or revamping a current one! I’m also going to touch on how I use this Editorial calendar (a WordPress plugin) and some of my other favorite resources for blogging.
Regarding my routine, a light bulb went off this weekend and I realized something about myself: I want to do it all! I’m constantly thinking about new things I want to do, and when I am planning something (like the girl’s night), it’s impossible to edit myself- I seriously wanted to make EVERYTHING on my inspiration board… I’m not sure what you call a person like me, but, talking to my husband about it yesterday I realized a huge help is ROUTINE. I have so many ideas running through my head all the time and routine things (like my day job, salad club, the gym, etc) are a pathway through the sort of chaos in my mind! I think that’s why I’m all about meal planning. Not having to think about what to eat is a relief, because I have a million other things to think about!
I’m sharing this because I with the blog, and along with this week’s series on getting started, I’d like to set up a routine for weekly posts. Obviously, it’s totally OK to change things up now and then, but how would you feel about set features, Monday through Friday? Wouldn’t you want to know what to expect when you visit the blog on a certain day of the week?
To accomplish this, I’m going to need the help of my Copy Editor, Karlye. (Thank you Karlye!) She’s awesome when it comes to tackling a plan practically (sorta like my husband is, but so not me at all)! I look forward to growing into a better routine on this blog and in my life, and I appreciate you guys bearing with me a long the way!
