Hey guys! I have exciting news: I signed up for the 2014 CrossFit Open! The Open is kind of a big deal for CrossFitters. It’s the start of the annual Reebok CrossFit Games and CrossFitters around the world compete to qualify for a seat at Regionals! Don’t worry – I’m not trying to go to Regionals! But, a lot of my friends at our box are competing and the coaches encourage it. (The real truth… my friend Naomi convinced me! Thanks girl!)
Anyway, I’m pretty nervous about it because I read there’s usually a crowd of onlookers and I’m not a huge fan of being the center of attention! I’m also a little nervous about the workout. Open workouts are notoriously gruesome. I mean, I love a gruesome workout as much as the next CrossFitter, but, mix that with a crowd and the fact that I’ll be working alongside the toughest (strongest) women at our box – eek! Please pray for me!
The Open will be held at my box beginning this Saturday at 2 p.m., through the first weekend April! The workouts will be announced every Thursday – live broadcasted from Crossfit.com! Pretty cool, huh? The first WOD will be announced at 8pm tonight – in just a few hours!
In other news, I’ve been meaning – forever! – to post about a fun party Aaron and I attended with the folks at PowerSupply, a local company that offers a variety of healthy (vegetarian, paleo, and mixitarian) meals to local athletes, by delivering them to their box. I recently became a PowerSupply Ambassador and I’m excited to represent such a cool, innovative company!
I found out about PowerSupply at the first meeting for the Paleo Challenge last fall. I tasted their buffalo chicken and was blown away! Yum! Since then, I’ve toyed with the idea of purchasing some paleo lunches for Aaron because he often struggels with eating a healthy lunch (many of you know I have Salad Club!), and for dinner, we’ve had less and less time to cook meals now that we go to the gym after work. A premade meal would save us!
The PowerSupply team was nice enough to invite us to their holiday party back in December, right before we left for our trip to Italy. Everyone was so nice and I had a fabulous time mingling with these health-concisous Washingtonians! We also got some incredible swag — like the bright orange lunch box below, and some delicious soups and baked goods! (All paleo approved!)
We got to sample a few new meals, too. PowerSupply is constantly changing up their menu selections and offerings and you just don’t know what they might come up with next!
I was excited to learn that PowerSupply also joined forces with Out of the Box Bakery, another local company that specializes in grain-free and dairy-free foods. The chocolate date power bar I tried was so delicious and, bonus: it satisfied my sweet tooth!
My partnership with PowerSupply is actually just beginning. I’m excited to get to taste-test a few of their other meals and blog about them here!
Do you use a meal delivery service, like PowerSupply?
Are you registered for the CrossFit Open?
I’m doing the open toooooo! (:
You did amazing!!!! So glad we are all doing it to cheer each other on 🙂
Thank you! 🙂 You did great, too! So glad we had each other! Haha. It was nerve-racking! Hopefully next week we’re less anxious. Haha!
Let me know how Power Supply is. I’ve been doing Custom Fit Meals on and off.
